Chris Paul had 27 points and nine assists as the Los Angeles Clippers coasted to a 115-89 win over the Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers never trailed, won the first quarter 35-12 and led by as many as 39 at the start of the fourth, before taking their foot off the gas.

Blake Griffin scored 20 points as seven Los Angeles players reached double figures.

Carmelo Anthony scored 40 points and led a fourth-quarter rally to help the New York Knicks see off the Orlando Magic 114-106.

The Magic, who got 29 points apiece from Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson, led by eight heading into the last quarter, but the Knicks outscored them 33-17, with Anthony pouring in 16 of those.

The defeat stretched the Magic's losing streak to eight games.

Paul Pierce scored 26 points and Rajon Rondo had a triple-double as the Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 89-81.

Rondo had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the Celtics, who were 46-27 down midway through the second quarter but rallied to win their second straight after losing four in a row.

Lou Williams led the Hawks with 28 points.

"We wanted to bring the fight to the Hawks in the second half," Pierce said afterwards. "We were kind of bickering with each other at halftime about what to do defensively and I just reminded our guys that the fight isn't against us, it's against the other team.

"Once we remembered that, we stepped up and played the kind of basketball that we're capable of playing."

Tony Parker led a balanced offence for the San Antonio Spurs as they eased to a 109-86 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, their 10th in a row at home.

Manu Ginobili added 19 points and four other San Antonio players were in double figures.

Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews had 26 points each in the Portland Trail Blazers' 102-97 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves have been hit by a further blow after it emerged Kevin Love has suffered another break to the hand previously injured in preseason.

The forward now faces being sidelined again, and is due to see a specialist later this week.

James Harden scored 29 points and Jeremy Lin 20 as the Houston Rockets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-104.

Brook Lopez scored 18 points to lead six Brooklyn players in double figures as the Nets beat the Sacramento Kings 113-93, while Roy Hibbert had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 95-80 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Danilo Gallinari's 26 points helped the Denver Nuggets to a 110-91 win over the Utah Jazz, while the New Orleans Hornets beat the Dallas Mavericks 99-96 in overtime.

Dubai works towards better air quality by 2021

Dubai is on a mission to record good air quality for 90 per cent of the year – up from 86 per cent annually today – by 2021.

The municipality plans to have seven mobile air-monitoring stations by 2020 to capture more accurate data in hourly and daily trends of pollution.

These will be on the Palm Jumeirah, Al Qusais, Muhaisnah, Rashidiyah, Al Wasl, Al Quoz and Dubai Investment Park.

“It will allow real-time responding for emergency cases,” said Khaldoon Al Daraji, first environment safety officer at the municipality.

“We’re in a good position except for the cases that are out of our hands, such as sandstorms.

“Sandstorms are our main concern because the UAE is just a receiver.

“The hotspots are Iran, Saudi Arabia and southern Iraq, but we’re working hard with the region to reduce the cycle of sandstorm generation.”

Mr Al Daraji said monitoring as it stood covered 47 per cent of Dubai.

There are 12 fixed stations in the emirate, but Dubai also receives information from monitors belonging to other entities.

“There are 25 stations in total,” Mr Al Daraji said.

“We added new technology and equipment used for the first time for the detection of heavy metals.

“A hundred parameters can be detected but we want to expand it to make sure that the data captured can allow a baseline study in some areas to ensure they are well positioned.”
