Sebastian Vettel is featured on The National Sport's front page on Monday, March 27 after he won the Australian Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2017 Formula One season, on Sunday.
Vettel, who drives for Ferrari, won his first race since November 2015. The gap between the wins speaks as much to Ferrari’s disappointing run in recent times as it does to the dominance Mercedes-GP have enjoyed over the past three seasons.
Lewis Hamilton, the man largely responsible for Mercedes’ success, finished second on Sunday – a disappointing result for the Briton given he started the race from pole position and has been F1’s most successful driver since 2014. His new teammate Valtteri Bottas finished third.
As Sports Editor Graham Caygill writes, the 2017 season is likely to see Ferrari challenge Mercedes for the constructors' championship while the drivers' title will likely be a two-horse race between four-time champion Vettel and three-time champion Hamilton.
