Wayne Rooney adorns The National Sport front page on Monday, March 16, after helping Manchester United to a convincing victory over Tottenham to boost their top four hopes.
Following goals from Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick, Rooney scored United’s third and celebrated by throwing shadow punches and falling to the ground — a reaction to the video that emerged of the England striker appearing to be knocked out by Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley during an impromptu boxing session in his kitchen.
For Tottenham, the gap between them and United in fourth is now six points and the chances of Spurs finishing in the Champions League spots appear all but over.
