Monday cover: Stuart Broad puts South Africa on the back heel

The National's Sport cover for the Monday, December 28 issue, featuring Stuart Broad as England fought back against South Africa.

After a first innings of 303, England's bowlers went to work on Day 2 on Sunday and cut down the host Proteas to 184/7, signalling their fight in the match.

“Tomorrow is a big first hour,” Broad said. “We need to make early breakthroughs as South Africa did today and try to get a first innings lead.

“I don’t think anyone really knows how this wicket is going to behave. It’s quite a lot drier than we expected. If it deteriorates a first innings lead could be crucial.”
