The National’s Sport cover for the Monday, December 15 issue, featuring a jubilant Manchester United side as they beat Liverpool 3-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie hit net for United, who solidifed their hold on third in England.

Jonathan Wilson writes that despite that, David de Gea has been, ”the key figure in this run of six league victories in a row”.

And Richard Jolly notes that while manager Louis van Gaal has seen a good Manchester United side, he’s still waiting to see a great Manchester United side:

“Louis van Gaal challenged his Manchester United team to produce the performances that will catapult them into the title race after they beat Liverpool 3-0 to record a sixth successive victory.

“Van Gaal said they have only satisfied him with two of their displays in their winning run.

“He responded to a query about their chances of competing to be champions by replying: ‘We have to see match by match. We are winning now six matches in a row’.”

Van Gaal goes on, reports Jolly: “That is fantastic, but we have to improve our playing style still. I am saying that nearly every week.”
