Professional female golfer and Instagram star Paige Spiranac has announced that she will be the official starter at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic next year.

Taking place at Emirates Golf Club on January 25-28, the Desert Classic is set to welcome back defending champion and US Masters winner Sergio Garcia as well as American Pat Perez.

Spiranac, 24, is familiar with the Majlis course having made her professional debut at Emirates Golf Club in 2015 when she was invited to compete at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.

She returned to play in the 2016 edition where she was paired to play alongside Cheyenne Woods, the niece of golf great Tiger Woods.

Spiranac's announcement comes at the same time as tickets go on sale for the Desert Classic.

Golf in Dubai, the promoters and organisers of the event, are calling on fans to buy tickets online at www.dubaidesertclassic.com to avoid the usual last-minute rush.

Daily tickets are priced at Dh175. A season pass, which provides access all week, is available for Dh500. All those aged 16 and under will be allowed free entry to the course if they are accompanied by an adult who is holding a valid ticket for the day.
