England bowler Stuart Broad bowls his way onto The National Sport front page on Friday, August 7 after an incredible spell against Australia put the hosts firmly in the driving seat to reclaim The Ashes urn.

Broad’s stunning haul of eight for 15 in 9.3 overs on his Nottinghamshire home ground saw Australia bowled out in a historically low 18.3 overs — the shortest completed first innings in the 138-year history of Test cricket for a meagre total of 60.

In reply, England closed the day on 274-4, with an unbeaten Joe Root century and a 74 by Jonny Bairstow ensuring the hosts are firmly in control heading into Day 2.
