Al Ain will be without Omar Abdulrahman for their Asian Champions League Group D match against Al Hilal.
The captain has not been deemed fit enough for the clash against the Saudi Arabian club.
The match will take place in the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on Tuesday.
"OK, everybody knows how important he is for the team, he is the best player in Asia, but you know that from pre-season he has some injury problems, he has played too many international and club games and he didn't recover well," Al Ain manager Zoran Mamic told reporters.
"It is the first game in the group stage and I didn't want to risk him and to allow him to make a good recovery for the end of the season because we play in different competitions, and we want to be top in every competition, that is why I left Omar at home, to make a good recovery and to be ready to be with the team in the next stage, and the following games in our league and in the President's Cup and in the Champions League."
A positive result is important for both teams in a tricky group containing Qatar's Al Rayyan and Esteghal or Iran.
