Many other players who cost considerable fees didn't make the top 10, including the likes of Benjamin Mendy, who joined Manchester City for £53m from Monaco, goalkeeper Ederson, who also joined City from Benfica, and Michael Keane, who joined Everton for £30m from Burnley.
Mohamed Salah meanwhile joined Liverpool from Roma, and should make more of an impact than he did in his first Premier League spell with Chelsea in 2014.
With only a few days left before the start of the English Premier League, expect more transfer movement, with Gylfi Sigurdsson expected to join Everton from Swansea for a fee reported to be in excess of £40m.
Ross Barkley is another set to move after rejecting a new contract to stay at Everton.
