Rodrygo hopes to emulate Vinicius Junior after completing 'dream' move to Real Madrid - in pictures

Brazilian teenager Rodrygo said he identifies his style of play with compatriots Neymar and Robinho after the teenage winger secured a "dream" move to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Rodrygo, 18, completed a €45 million (Dh185m) switch from Santos to become the latest summer arrival at the Spanish giants, although the deal was actually completed in June last year before Madrid allowed him to stay at the Brazilian club for another season.

Rodrygo is the fifth player through the Santiago Bernabeu entrance following Belgian forward Eden Hazard, Serbian striker Luka Jovic, French full-back Ferland Mendy, and Brazilian defender Eder Militao. The club's transfer outlay so far this summer stands at around €300m.

"For me it is a dream come true," Rodrygo said at a press conference on Tuesday. "I have always said it is the dream of every child in Brazil and the world. I'm living a dream, it's the happiest day of my life."

Rodrygo will hope to emulate compatriot Vinicius Junior, who moved to Madrid from Flamengo last year, and after a few appearances for the club's reserve side Castilla became one of the team's standout players of the season.

"I have spoken to Vincius since I signed and when we met in the national team we talked about the club," Rodrygo said.

"Madrid always has the best players in the world. I know there will be a lot of competition but I am available to the club to play in the first team or for Castilla.

"The pressure is there at all football clubs but here it is much higher. Vinicius told me about his experience. He told me to be patient. I'm young, I have a big future ahead of me and everything will happen naturally."

After his first press conference, Rodrygo made his way out on to the Bernabeu pitch where he was greeted and cheered on by around 2,000 fans. Of all the Madrid signings so far this summer, Rodrygo is the biggest unknown, given the early stage of his career.

"I'm a fast striker, I score and dribble," he said. "I'm Brazilian and we're a bit like that, like Robinho and Neymar, I identify a little with them.

"I like to play on the wings, on the left especially, but I have no preference. I'm ready to play."
