While Liverpool appear to be running away with the title, and Manchester City are their closest pursuers, there are plenty of the so-called smaller clubs making waves in the Premier League this season.

Leicester are right up with the big teams again, Shefiield United were the favourites to be relegated yet sit in sixth, Wolves are seventh and Crystal Palace ninth.

Meanwhile, the traditional powerhouses of Arsenal are in tenth, Manchester United 27 points behind the leaders in fifth, and top-flight ever-presents Everton are 11th.

So are the giants failing to attract the best players? Not according to their wage bills.

Even if they are failing to make a big impact in the league this season, the players are still being handsomely rewarded.

The Premier League table would certainly look different if based on each club's best paid player. So here is the comparison of the top earners in each Premier League, according to Sportac, an online sports team and player contract website.

The list includes more than one player from a club if there are joint top earners.

Above is a photo gallery of the highest earning players from each of the 20 clubs and their weekly take home pay.
