Frenchman Pogba gives away penalty that leads to Aubameyang winner

Paul Pogba - 3. Flimsy impact on the game when he’s supposed to have the opposite. Gave away a penalty with a stupid, silly, mistimed tackle. Four years into his time back at Old Trafford and hundred games into Solskjaer’s management, he remains an enigma. Reuters

Bruno Fernandes - 4. Like the others in United’s midfield diamond, United’s most creative player gave the ball away far too much. Reuters

Mason Greenwood - 5. Only shot on target for first half. Too far away from Rashford to be effective. Nice skill before being substituted. Limited against an effective Arsenal defence. Reuters

Marcus Rashford -5. Struggles playing with his back to goal and struggled against Gabriel. Gave best ball of the first half to Greenwood. And when you’re picking out a single pass as the highlight of United’s performance, that’s how bad it was. Reuters

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba took the blame for his team's 1-0 Premier League defeat at home by Arsenal after giving away the second half penalty that decided the outcome.

Pogba clipped the foot of Hector Bellerin with a poorly judged challenge inside the box, which he described as "stupid", and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted the penalty.

"We know it's a poor performance. Myself, I cannot give a foul away like this," Pogba told the BBC.

"I thought I would touch the ball but I didn't. [I] cost us the goal today with the penalty.

"I shouldn't have given a penalty away like that. Maybe I was a bit out of breath, it made me do this stupid mistake. I will learn from that, I'm not the best defensively in the box, I can work on that," he added.
