LEEDS UNITED RATINGS: Illan Meslier, 7 – A frustrating game for Mesiler who played well but was beaten by two headers. He should have done better with the first; he managed to get his hands to Tomas Soucek’s effort but couldn’t keep it out. Made a great save to keep out Balbuena but then could do little about Ogbonna’s winner.

Stuart Dallas 5 – Enjoyed a strong start with plenty of neat touches, but was then beaten in the air by the slightly taller Soucek for the first goal. Was generally exposed at set pieces.

Luke Ayling 7 – Was the pick of the bunch for Leeds in an unfamiliar central position. Performed well amidst the chaos around him and looked confident on the ball. Found Rodrigo with a brilliant cross late on.
AP
Liam Cooper 5 – A mixed bag from Cooper’s whose slide-rule pass set Bamford free for the penalty in the opening minutes, but who was then culpable of wayward passing thereafter. Was guilty of a couple of errors.
AP
Ezgjan Alioski 5 – Enjoyed some space on the left but his final ball let him down. Didn’t offer enough of a threat going forward and, having been given a yellow in the first half, was substituted at the break.
AP
Kalvin Phillips 5 – Looked bright to begin with but was overshadowed by both Declan Rice and Said Benrahma. His tackling was sharp and his passing – long and short – was impressive to begin with, but he lost his way as the game went on.
EPA
Raphinha 6 – Showed a few neat touches in the first half and once set up Rodrigo, but was marked out of the game in the second period.

Rodrigo 5 – Came close at the death but his header went straight to Fabianski. Had a couple of chances throughout but didn’t do enough to trouble the West Ham goal.
AP
Mateusz Klich 5 – Gave the home side the lead from the spot, though was lucky to get a second chance after Fabianski saved his first – weak - shot at goal. Was very quiet after scoring.

Jack Harrison 4 – Offered very little in the first half apart from one cross to Bamford, but he couldn’t get into the game. He also gave away the corner that led to West Ham’s equaliser.
AP
Patrick Bamford 5 – Unable to add to his 11 goals, though he had chances to do so. His best chance came with a header, but he was isolated far too often and cut an isolating – and frustrated – figure.

SUBS: Helder Costa 4 – Got involved soon after coming on when his backheel freed Dallas, whose cross was then claimed by Fabianski. However, it was Costa’s foul on Cresswell that led to the free-kick that gave West Ham the winner. AP
Jamie Shackleton 6 – Made an immediate impact, getting forward down the right and crossing to Bamford on the penalty spot. Looked dangerous in the opposing half at times. AP
Tyler Roberts 4 – Offered little when he came on. His decision making was poor and he found it difficult getting on the ball or into dangerous positions. PA
WEST HAM RATINGS: Lukasz Fabianski 7 – Was guilty of giving away a penalty in the first minute and thought he’d redeemed himself by saving low to his right to deny Klich’s woeful effort, but he was then adjudged to have left his line too early. Could do little about the retaken spot-kick. Looked solid for the rest of the game.
AP
Fabian Balbuena 7 – Looked comfortable at the back and kept Patrick Bamford quiet for much of the evening. Was unlucky not to score but was denied by an excellent save by Illan Mesiler.
AP
Angelo Ogbonna 6 – Not his finest defensive performance and was lucky at times not to be punished, but he popped up at the back post to head home the winning goal with 10 minutes left on the clock.
PA
Aaron Cresswell 7 – Faced a stiff test in Raphina and Costa but dealt with both well. He was fouled in a dangerous area with 10 minutes left and he recovered to take the set piece and deliver a perfect cross for Ogbonna to head home.

Vladimir Coufal 6 – Performed well and never stopped running. Slotted well into the makeshift back four and looked dangerous when attacking the Leeds half.

Tomas Soucek 8 – Headed home the equaliser for West Ham after rising above Stuart Dallas to convert Bowen’s corner. Always looked a threat in and around the Leeds box and never stopped running.
AFP
Declan Rice 8 – Protected his back four well and looked dangerous when running into the Leeds half with the ball. Won the battle of the two England internationals in midfield.
PA
Pablo Fornals 6 – Was predictably forced to do a lot of running chasing the Leeds midfield and though he was quiet, he did his job well and helped break Leeds’ momentum in the second half.
Getty
Jarrod Bowen 7 – Enjoyed a lot of space on the right-hand side and came close to scoring, though he hit his best chance over the bar from 20 yards. Was always a threat, though his decision making wasn’t always on point.
AP
Said Benrahma 8 – Influenced the game from midfield. Always looked dangerous when striding into the Leeds half. One foray in particular involved about five stepovers but unfortunately his final ball let him down. Moments later, he shot just wide of the post. Continually made things happen.

Sebastien Haller 6 – Was a nuisance all game, but his finishing was poor. He had two great chances to level in quick succession when West Ham were one down; with a header and shot both blocked. In the second half, he should have done better again when shooting from six yards, and a header.
