Atletico Madrid will be looking to build on beating Barcelona for first time in a decade as their face Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League.

Diego Simeone's side last defeated Barca in 2010 at the now-demolished Vicente Calderon Stadium, but they ended that drought with a battling 1-0 victory, thanks to Yannick Carrasco's goal.

Striker Luis Suarez missed the chance to put one over his old club as he contracted Covid-19 while away on international duty with Uruguay and will also miss the game against Lokomotiv.

Unbeaten Atletico currently sit second in La Liga, three points behind surprise leaders Real Sociedad, three ahead of city rivals Real and nine points clear of Ronaldo Koeman's Barca.

In Champions League Group A, the Spaniards are also second, five points behind runaway leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich.

Wednesday's opponents Lokomotiv are third – the two teams drew 1-1 in Russia in their last match – two points behind Atletico and one ahead of bottom side Red Bull Salzburg.
