Harry Kane increases pre-season pressure on Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid as Tottenham triumph in Munich

Real Madrid's miserable pre-season continued on Tuesday as they lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly match.

England captain Harry Kane's 22nd-minute strike proved to be the only goal of the game in Munich in the Audi Cup semi-final clash.

Madrid have already lost 3-1 to Bayern Munich and 7-3 to Atletico Madrid during a pre-season that has been dogged with problems off the field as manager Zinedine Zidane's attempts to sell Gareth Bale have floundered.

A proposed move to China for Bale has fallen through and the Welshman was not in the squad for the match against Tottenham.

But despite a strong first 11, including new signing Eden Hazard, as well as Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, the La Liga side again failed to find top gear.

Kane capitalised on a mistake by Marcelo to score the only goal.

Real did have a goal disallowed as Rodrygo was adjudged to be offside when he netted, while Troy Parrott hit the woodwork with a late effort for Tottenham.
