Heavy rain and high winds in the UAE forced organisers in Abu Dhabi to cancel a free screening of the highly anticipated Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City on Sunday.
Manchester City were set to host a special screening at Zayed Sports City on a giant screen at Pitch 15 with the event scheduled to start at 8pm for the 8.30 pm kick-off.
However, inclement weather meant the event had to be cancelled.
Heavy rain swept through Abu Dhabi by noon, reducing visibility on the roads. Thunderstorms hit areas of Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sharjah on Saturday night and continued on Sunday morning. Warnings were issued by the Civil Defence, police and the National Centre for Meteorology.
Abu Dhabi Police sent out an emergency alert to the public via text. It read: "Due to bad weather please take caution while driving on public roads."
