David de Gea and the 33 highest paid goalkeepers in the Premier League. Here's their weekly salaries - in pictures

David de Gea is getting a somewhat bad press at the moment, compounded by his errors against Chelsea on Sunday that contributed to the Blues securing a 3-1 win and a place in the FA Cup final.

Indeed one goal conceded – Chelsea's second – scored by Mason Mount, was, in his manager's words, a shot the Manchester United goalkeeper should save "100 times out of 100".

While there is no doubting he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, De Gea is at a point in his career where errors no longer feel like an anomaly. For years De Gea set the bar by which all other goalkeeping standards were judged. However, since a Cristiano Ronaldo shot scrambled through is hands at the 2018 World Cup, the Spaniard has failed to reach those heady heights on a consistent basis for either club or country.

According to figures published by spotrac.com, De Gea is the highest paid player in the Premier League, which, by default, means he is also the most well numerated goalkeeper in England.
