Brendan Rodgers declared himself "very happy" at Leicester City amid growing speculation linking him with the vacant manager's job at Arsenal.
Rodgers, 46, is among a host of names touted to succeed Unai Emery, the Spaniard sacked by the North London club following a run of seven matches without a win.
That run was extended to eight under caretaker Freddie Ljungberg on Sunday when the Gunners needed a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to salvage a 2-2 draw at struggling Norwich City.
But Rodgers, who only joined Leicester from Scottish champions Celtic in February and has guided the team to second in the Premier League this term, reiterated his commitment to the Foxes.
"I have a contract here until 2022 and thus far, and I know managers are losing their jobs, but the club haven't indicated to me that they're going to sack me," the Northern Irishman said. "I think they're pretty happy with how we're working
"And I'm very happy, so I've no need to look elsewhere. And I think logic would tell you -- and I know that sometimes in your world it's not always logical, there's gossip and speculation -- but why would I want to leave Leicester City at this moment in time?
"I'm working with a young group of players with so much potential, that want to improve and want to develop. There's a lot for us to grow and develop over these next few seasons. We're moving to a new training facility."
Leicester's next game is against bottom club Watford on Wednesday with the 2016 Premier League champions looking to extend their winning run of games to seven.
Watford are also on the lookout for a manager having parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores, after only 85 days and 10 games in charge.
Flores' sacking comes only three months after the club parted company with another Spaniard, Javi Gracia.
Former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton is the current frontrunner for the vacancy. The 60-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by the Seagulls at the end of last term and is thought to be eager for a top-flight return having reportedly turned down approaches from Championship clubs. Sam Allardyce, Paul Clement and former Real Betis boss Quique Setien have also been linked with the position.
Under 23 coach Hayden Mullins will take charge of Wednesday's match against Leicester at the King Power Stadium, the club said.
Will the pound fall to parity with the dollar?
The idea of pound parity now seems less far-fetched as the risk grows that Britain may split away from the European Union without a deal.
Rupert Harrison, a fund manager at BlackRock, sees the risk of it falling to trade level with the dollar on a no-deal Brexit. The view echoes Morgan Stanley’s recent forecast that the currency can plunge toward $1 (Dh3.67) on such an outcome. That isn’t the majority view yet – a Bloomberg survey this month estimated the pound will slide to $1.10 should the UK exit the bloc without an agreement.
New Prime Minister Boris Johnson has repeatedly said that Britain will leave the EU on the October 31 deadline with or without an agreement, fuelling concern the nation is headed for a disorderly departure and fanning pessimism toward the pound. Sterling has fallen more than 7 per cent in the past three months, the worst performance among major developed-market currencies.
“The pound is at a much lower level now but I still think a no-deal exit would lead to significant volatility and we could be testing parity on a really bad outcome,” said Mr Harrison, who manages more than $10 billion in assets at BlackRock. “We will see this game of chicken continue through August and that’s likely negative for sterling,” he said about the deadlocked Brexit talks.
The pound fell 0.8 per cent to $1.2033 on Friday, its weakest closing level since the 1980s, after a report on the second quarter showed the UK economy shrank for the first time in six years. The data means it is likely the Bank of England will cut interest rates, according to Mizuho Bank.
The BOE said in November that the currency could fall even below $1 in an analysis on possible worst-case Brexit scenarios. Options-based calculations showed around a 6.4 per cent chance of pound-dollar parity in the next one year, markedly higher than 0.2 per cent in early March when prospects of a no-deal outcome were seemingly off the table.
