Barcelona sign American teenager Sergino Dest from Ajax on five-year deal

Full-back moves for initial €21m and will compete with Sergi Roberto for a place in the team

United States full-back Sergino Dest has joined Barcelona from Ajax in a deal worth €21 million ($24.70 million) plus another €5m in add-ons, the Spanish club side on Thursday.

Barca's statement added that Dest, 19, had agreed to sign a five-year contract with a release clause of €400m.

Dest, who broke into Ajax's first team from their academy last season and has played three times for the US, will be officially presented on Friday.

The defender will compete with Sergi Roberto for a first team berth after Portugal right back Nelson Semedo left Barca for Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
