Goalkeeper: Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion)

Sunderland had 22 shots, seven of them on target, and failed to score. The superb Foster was the reason why.

Right-back: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

A buccaneering force going forward, the young Spaniard was rewarded with a goal in the 4-0 rout of Watford on Saturday.

Centre-back: Wes Morgan (Leicester)

The league leaders’ captain fantastic popped up with his first goal of the season and kept another clean sheet as Southampton were seen off.

Centre-back: Daley Blind (Manchester United)

Kept Romelu Lukaku uncharacteristically quiet as Manchester United extended their excellent home defensive record.

Left-back: Martin Olsson (Norwich City)

Scored the dramatic decider against Newcastle in injury-time. It may prove the most important goal of Norwich’s season.

Right midfield: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Finally back in form, the Chilean scored one goal and made another as Arsenal demolished Watford with an emphatic display.

Centre midfield: Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea)

Making just the second league start of his career, the youngster set Chelsea on their way in a 4-0 hammering of Aston Villa.

Centre midfield: Manuel Lanzini (West Ham)

One of the signings of the season, the Argentine scored in fine fashion during the entertaining 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Left midfield: Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Tends to reserve his goals for high-quality opponents and dented Tottenham’s title tilt with a lovely first-time finish.

Striker: Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

Out since January, the Belgian showed what City had been missing by starting and scoring on his return.

Striker: Aleksandar Mitrovic (Newcastle)

It was in a losing cause, but the Serb excelled in a cameo, scoring twice to make his mark in the thriller at Norwich.
