Emirati lawyer Saleh Ahmed Al Obeidli chosen as certified arbitrator for CAS

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has accepted an Emirati lawyer to be one of its 300 certified arbitrators from around the world.

Saleh Ahmed Al Obeidli, a certified lawyer who can plea before all courts in the UAE including the Supreme Federal Court, is now able to arbitrate on behalf of CAS, the Lausanne-based semi-judiciary international body that looks into and settles international sporting disputes.

In a statement, Al Obeidli said: “Accepting me as an accredited and certified arbitrator with CAS is an achievement for the UAE in the first place thanks to the great care and support offered by our wise leadership to all sport sectors in our country.”

Al Obeidli has helped formulate several sporting legislations in the UAE, including the technical regulations of the FootballAssociation andhas represented UAE clubs and players in cases before CAS. Al Obeidli also has written many research papers in the field of sports law.

He is a managing partner Saleh Al Obeidli Advocates & Consultants Office. He holds two master degrees in law.
