Pravin Tambe took the first T10 League five-wicket haul, as his Sindhis side shocked Kerala Knights, the defending champions.
The 47-year-old spinner had missed the opening game 24 hours earlier, in which the Sindhis were humbled by 10 wickets – with six overs to spare – by Rajputs.
He appeared nervous when he was given the chance to bowl the first over of the match, as he sent down wides in successive balls at the start.
Then he took the wickets of Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard and Fabian Allen – the last three in succession to make up a hat-trick.
He then completed figures of 5-15, with another wicket in his following over.
Kerala failed to recover from the astonishing start. Some lusty hitting from Sohail Tanvir meant they did at least post a competitive score, as they reached 103.
But Sindhis barely broke sweat in chasing it with just one wicket lost, as captain Shane Watson top scored with an unbeaten half-century.
