New Zealand battled back to end the second day of their Test match against Pakistan trailling by 18 runs with nine wickets remaining at the Zayed Cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Pakistan, resuming at their overnight 59-2, were dismissed for 227, for a first innings lead of 74. The visitors were 56-1 at close of play when bad light stopped intervened with 4.2 overs left.
Jeet Raval (26) and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (27) were at the crease after they lost opener Tom Latham in the first ball he faced.
Hasan Ali sent Latham’s off-stump cartwheeling in the first ball in the second over but Raval and Williamson regrouped to close down Pakistan's lead.
