Cricket World Cup: Rihanna goes through full range of emotions as West Indies lose to Sri Lanka

The pop queen was animated in the crowd at Durham

Did anyone tell Rihanna the West Indies were already out of the Cricket World Cup?

The Barbadian pop queen matched the action on the pitch at Chester-le-Street, Durham on Monday with an action-packed show in the crowd as she watched the West Indies lose to Sri Lanka.

West Indies were unable to qualify for the semi-finals but put up a decent fight in attempting to achieve what would have been the highest successful run chase in World Cup history before falling 23 runs short.

And Rihanna didn't let the fact the encounter was a dead-rubber get in the way of her enthusiasm.

She showed a full range of emotions as she took her place in the stands, with expressions ranging from pain and disbelief when a wicket fell, to partisan support when the likes of Nicholas Pooran, who scored his first one-day international century, fuelled belief that the West Indies could win.

She pumped the air with her fist, dished out high-fives and could be seen providing plenty of vocal support to her team. At one point she received a shock when she noticed the TV cameras were focusing in on her as yelled and waved her side on.

She later met with West Indies batsman Chris Gayle and had a bat signed by the legendary player.

It has been a desperately disappointing tournament for the two-time World Cup winners, who have won just one of their eight matches.

Their last fixture is against Afghanistan at Headingley on Thursday.

Today sees Bangladesh face India at Edgbaston. India are currently second in the table behind leaders Australia.
