Babar Azam hit a second successive century and Shadab Khan gave a strong all-round performance as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 32 runs in the second one-day international on Monday.
Azam scored 101 off 133 balls a day after celebrating his 23rd birthday, while Shadab dug in to score 52 not out to lift Pakistan's total to 219-9.
They featured in a 109-run stand after Pakistan was 101-6 against seamers Lahiru Gamage (4-57) and Thisara Perera (2-34).
Captain Upul Tharanga became the first Sri Lankan to carry his bat in an ODI with an unbeaten 112 off 144 balls including 14 fours, but his team was bowled out for 187 in 48 overs.
"Our batting collapsed but the way they (Azam and Shadab) batted after that on a difficult pitch was brilliant," said Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed, who won the toss. "The pitch kept getting slower and slower, so batting wasn't easy ... if we trust the youngsters, they give us good performances."
Shadab also outfoxed the batsmen with his legspin to finish with 3-47 as, yet again, the Sri Lanka top order failed to fire as it did in the first game of five, which it lost 83 runs on Friday.
Azam and Shadab batted resolutely and rotated the strike with singles and twos much to the frustration of Sri Lanka. Neither attempted expansive shots.
Azam raised his century with only six boundaries before he missed Gamage's low full toss in the last over and was caught at long on. In the run chase, Tharanga struggled to get partnerships going and survived two early catching chances when Shadab and Azam dropped sitters.

The Sri Lanka captain also successfully overturned a caught behind decision against him on 29, and Pakistan missed an opportunity to have him lbw on 46.
Shadab didn't go for the video review when replays showed the ball would have crashed on to the stumps.But Sri Lanka always lagged behind despite Tharanga's chancy stay at the crease. It slipped to 93-7, losing five wickets in seven overs. Shadab claimed three of those wickets.
Tharanga added 76 runs with Jeffrey Vandersay (22) but never looked to threaten Pakistan's total before Vandersay holed out in the deep and the last two batsmen were run out.
"When you're 90 for 7, it's a tough task," Tharanga said. "It was good to carry the bat, but disappointed with the result."
Sri Lanka has lost 18 of its 23 ODIs in 2017, including 5-0 defeats against South Africa and India.

What is Genes in Space?
Genes in Space is an annual competition first launched by the UAE Space Agency, The National and Boeing in 2015.
It challenges school pupils to design experiments to be conducted in space and it aims to encourage future talent for the UAE’s fledgling space industry. It is the first of its kind in the UAE and, as well as encouraging talent, it also aims to raise interest and awareness among the general population about space exploration.

Explainer: Tanween Design Programme
Non-profit arts studio Tashkeel launched this annual initiative with the intention of supporting budding designers in the UAE. This year, three talents were chosen from hundreds of applicants to be a part of the sixth creative development programme. These are architect Abdulla Al Mulla, interior designer Lana El Samman and graphic designer Yara Habib.
The trio have been guided by experts from the industry over the course of nine months, as they developed their own products that merge their unique styles with traditional elements of Emirati design. This includes laboratory sessions, experimental and collaborative practice, investigation of new business models and evaluation.
It is led by British contemporary design project specialist Helen Voce and mentor Kevin Badni, and offers participants access to experts from across the world, including the likes of UK designer Gareth Neal and multidisciplinary designer and entrepreneur, Sheikh Salem Al Qassimi.
The final pieces are being revealed in a worldwide limited-edition release on the first day of Downtown Designs at Dubai Design Week 2019. Tashkeel will be at stand E31 at the exhibition.
Lisa Ball-Lechgar, deputy director of Tashkeel, said: “The diversity and calibre of the applicants this year … is reflective of the dynamic change that the UAE art and design industry is witnessing, with young creators resolute in making their bold design ideas a reality.”

How the bonus system works
The two riders are among several riders in the UAE to receive the top payment of £10,000 under the Thank You Fund of £16 million (Dh80m), which was announced in conjunction with Deliveroo's £8 billion (Dh40bn) stock market listing earlier this year.
The £10,000 (Dh50,000) payment is made to those riders who have completed the highest number of orders in each market.
There are also riders who will receive payments of £1,000 (Dh5,000) and £500 (Dh2,500).
All riders who have worked with Deliveroo for at least one year and completed 2,000 orders will receive £200 (Dh1,000), the company said when it announced the scheme.
