Board and players to meet ICC today

Top Indian cricketers will today attend the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) working committee meeting to discuss their concerns of World Anti-Doping Agency's (Wada) testing. The meeting will be attended by representatives from the International Cricket Council (ICC), a day after the 11 players refused to sign on the dotted line of Wada's "whereabouts" rule. The Wada code requires players in the ICC's international testing pool to submit details in advance of their whereabouts for the next three months, even during the off-season, to facilitate effective out-of-competition testing.

Apart from privacy and practicality issues, players like MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, who have received threats from terrorist groups, raised questions about the confidentiality and security risks involved in providing whereabouts information in advance. The BCCI on their part chose to allay fears of a confrontation with ICC yesterday, when board president Shashank Manohar said they were eager to come up with "a mutually acceptable solution".

But he refused to comment on whether BCCI would let the players be penalised by ICC for missing the filing deadline. Three such defaults can lead to a ban from the sport for up to two years.
