Last season they scored 101 goals in the Premier League, but this season they only have 47 so far. Ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Hull City, here is a look at their worst seasons in front of goal.
47 — 2011/12
While Liverpool reached both domestic cup finals, winning the League Cup, in the league they only scored 47 goals in 38 games, with Luis Suarez top-scoring with 11 as the side finished eighth in the table.
51 — 1999/00
Gerard Houllier’s first season in charge at Anfield saw the Merseyside club finish fourth, but with only 51 goals to their name as they struggled to break down defences. Michael Owen top scored with 11.
52 — 2004/05
While they would shine in Europe by winning the Uefa Champions League, Liverpool finished only fifth domestically, thanks in part to a below-par tally of 52 goals, with Czech striker Milan Baros scoring nine of them.
55 — 2003/04
England forward Owen found the net 16 times in his last season for Liverpool, but only 55 goals in total from the team saw them finish 30 points adrift of champions Arsenal, in fourth place.
57 — 2005/06 and 2006/07
Liverpool claimed top-four finishes in 2005/06, where Steven Gerrard top scored with 10, and 2006/07, where Dirk Kuyt netted 12, but they were not in title contention in other season.
