ABU DHABI // In the end, the three points is all that mattered to Paulo Bonamigo as Al Jazira were made to work overtime for their 2-1 victory over Ajman.

A first-half brace from Ricardo Oliveira either side of a Waleed Ahmed penalty edged the hosts home as Jazira took their tally to six points from three Pro League games last night at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

"Our objective was to win three points from this game and we achieved it," Bonamigo said. "Like always, we will evaluate this game and work on areas we need to improve. This is a continuous process and we will always try to maintain this winning formula.

"We expected a tough game and it turned out to be a hard game. There is always room for improvement and like always we will evaluate out performance and work on them."

Abdul Wahab Abdul Kader, the Ajman coach, conceded it was always a "massive task" when they play against teams like Jazira.

"To give them a good fight and to lose 2-1 is not a bad result for us," he said. "We always play to win and our players tried very hard but in the end they were the better team on the night."

Oliveira put the home side ahead from a header off a cross from Ali Mabkhout but the lead did not last long as Ajman levelled from the penalty spot through Ahmed.

Salem Masoud brought down Boris Kabi with a reckless tackle in the area and the referee Yaqoub Al Hammadi had no hesitation in pointing at the penalty spot.

Oliveira curled in a free kick five minutes before the break to regain the lead for Jazira, and the Abu Dhabi side were forced to weather a second-half onslaught before securing the three points.

Who was Alfred Nobel?

The Nobel Prize was created by wealthy Swedish chemist and entrepreneur Alfred Nobel.

  • In his will he dictated that the bulk of his estate should be used to fund "prizes to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind".
  • Nobel is best known as the inventor of dynamite, but also wrote poetry and drama and could speak Russian, French, English and German by the age of 17. The five original prize categories reflect the interests closest to his heart.
  • Nobel died in 1896 but it took until 1901, following a legal battle over his will, before the first prizes were awarded.

Mr Justice Colton said he was making the temporary direction until a judicial review of the minister's unilateral action this week to order a halt to port checks that are required under the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Civil servants have yet to implement the instruction, pending legal clarity on their obligations, and checks are continuing.

Labour dispute

The insured employee may still file an ILOE claim even if a labour dispute is ongoing post termination, but the insurer may suspend or reject payment, until the courts resolve the dispute, especially if the reason for termination is contested. The outcome of the labour court proceedings can directly affect eligibility.
