Blues held to a 2-2 Premier League draw at Stamford Bridge having twice held the lead

  CHELSEA PLAYER RATINGS: Kepa Arrizabalaga - 5. The Spaniard wasn’t tested in the first half. He should have done better to keep out Simms’ low effort that crept past him in the 89th minute. AFP

  Wesley Fofana - 6. Got beaten in the air by Tarkowski in the build-up to Everton’s equaliser. Covered well for the attacking James on the right-hand side of defence. EPA

  Kalidou Koulibaly - 5. He made a good tackle to take the ball off McNeil in the 41st minute, then stopped Gray from running through on goal with a last-ditch tackle just after the break. Beaten far too easily by Simms in the build-up to Everton’s late equaliser. AFP

  Benoit Badiashile - 6. Did well to find his goalkeeper despite enormous pressure from Gray in the 29th minute. Wasn’t really tested by the Everton attackers on the left side of the Blues’ three-man defence. PA

  Mateo Kovacic - 6. Sliced a shot wide in the fifth minute when he should have hit the target. Should have done better to stop Doucoure from flicking the ball into the net for Everton’s first. Reuters

  Christian Pulisic - 6. Evaded three defenders and squared a pass out wide in the 16th minute, but it came to nothing. Created several half-chances in the second half but never posed a consistent danger. AFP

  Joao Felix - 8. Denied by a Tarkowski block in the 10th minute, and was a whisker away from turning Chilwell’s cross into the net after 20 minutes. Put Chelsea ahead with a cushioned finish into the right-hand corner in the 52nd minute. Reuters

  Kai Havertz - 8. Should have at least directed a header on target when Chilwell’s corner found him in the box early in the game. Sent Pickford the wrong way to help Chelsea regain the lead from the spot in the 77th minute but could have scored a late winner, only to misjudge a free header. AFP

  EVERTON PLAYER RATINGS: Jordan Pickford - 6. Made a good save to keep out Havertz's header just after the restart. Couldn’t have kept out any of Chelsea’s goals. AFP

  Seamus Coleman - 5. Got beaten by Chilwell several times in the first 20 minutes of the match. His struggles continued in the second half and he had to be replaced by the more energetic Mykolenko. AP

  Ben Godfrey - 4. Had a tough time dealing with James and Felix in the first half. Reacted very slowly to James getting behind him in the build-up to the fullback earning a penalty for Chelsea. AFP

  James Tarkowski - 7. Blocked a Felix shot from point-blank range early in the game, and then used his body as a shield to stop Havertz from running through on goal. Made a terrific block to deny James on the stroke of half-time, and provided a headed assist for Doucoure to draw Everton level. Conceded the penalty when he got the wrong side of James. EPA

  Micheal Keane - 5. Reacted quickly to stop Felix from getting on the end of a Pickford punch in the 50th minute. However, his weak clearance gave Felix the chance to open the scoring in the 53rd minute. Should have made contact with a Gray free-kick in the 58th minute. EPA

  Idrissa Gueye - 6. Dropped back very deep to help out in defence in the first half. Brought off for an attacker as Everton chased the game in the second. AP

  Amadou Onana - 6. Excellent defensive work to track back and deny Chelsea from going through on goal in the 19th minute. Made a nuisance of himself in attack and caused the Chelsea backline problems. AP

  Abdoulaye Doucoure - 9. Drew Everton level with a flicked header in the 69th minute, and assisted Simms’ to score Everton’s second goal. A vital contribution from the midfielder. Reuters

  Alex Iwobi - 7. His ability to hold on to the ball and find a teammate despite pressure from the Blues was crucial for Sean Dyche’s side in the first half. Had Everton's first shot on target with a weak shot in the 50th minute. Getty

  Demarai Gray - 7. For spells looked like Everton's only genuine threat with his intelligent running. Made several runs with the box in the second half and whipped in crosses but his teammates didn’t take advantage of them. AP

  SUBS: Ellis Simms (Gueye 79') - 8. Scored his first Everton goal at a crucial time and in fine style. Showed great strength to fend off the challenge of Koulibaly and also beat Kepa to draw Everton level at the death. Getty

An 89th-minute goal from substitute Ellis Simms earned relegation-threatened Everton a point at Chelsea on Saturday in a lively 2-2 Premier League draw.

Second-half goals from Joao Felix and Kai Havertz with a penalty had looked like earning the home side victory but Simms muscled past Kalidou Koulibaly and his shot beat Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Felix, whose trickery and silky skills had promised much in the first half, finally found the net in the 52nd minute with a low shot that crept in off the post.

Chelsea enjoyed more than 70 per cent possession in the first half with Everton defending in numbers but the goal forced Sean Dyche's men forward and the game opened up.

They earned their reward in the 69th minute when Abdoulaye Doucoure got on the end of a James Tarkowski header after a Dwight McNeil corner and pushed it over the line to make it 1-1.

Soon afterwards Chelsea won a penalty when Tarkowski brought down Reece James and Havertz curled the ball into the top corner sending Jordan Pickford the wrong way, only for Simms to equalise again for Everton.
