Actor and Hollywood heart throb Ryan Reynolds has been named Piaget's newest brand ambassador.
The high jewellery and watch brand, founded in 1874, is best known for its ultra thin watch movements, first created in the 1950s, and its beautiful jewellery collections that heavily feature gold and coloured gems.
In recent years, Piaget has also shown its support for cinema, most notably in acting as the premier sponsor of the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
Speaking of the appointment of Reynolds, Philippe Léopold-Metzger, the brand’s CEO, says, “Ryan Reynolds delights audiences around the world with a blend of elegance and charisma. Like Piaget, he fearlessly brings creativity to his art, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Piaget family.”
Reynolds, who is married to actress Blake Lively, is best known for his comedy and action roles. He starred alongside Sandra Bullock in the comedy The Proposal, and played the lead role in the recent action hero spoof Deadpool. In 2011, however, he proved himself as more than just a comedy actor, when he starred in the gritty drama Buried.
Speaking of his appointment, Reynolds says: “I’m very happy to join the Piaget family. You can’t find a more iconic brand, or one which better exemplifies craftsmanship, elegance and creativity. This is something that means a lot to me.”
He adds, “I work in a field in which things can be cast away quite quickly. So when you find something iconic, something timeless, it’s important. And that’s one of the many things I love about Piaget.”
