Millions of people around the world joined Women’s Day marches, which also served a protests against new American president Donald Trump. Social media users said they were happy to see men and women come together peacefully for something they believed in.

“Genuinely so proud of the men and women standing up for feminism. I so wish I was there,” one user tweeted.

Another user from the United Kingdom attended the march in London and noted that, although it was cold, it was an inspirational day.

Others wondered whether the Trump ascendancy had been a good thing because it had united Americans on the issues of feminism and racism.
