Regarding school reforms (Sweeping reforms in UAE schools overhaul, August 30), may I ask whether it is possible to add humanities and modern languages? Where are physical education, drama, music and dance? Again the focus is only on academics.
Children and young adults need to be educated in everything, including aesthetics, literature and history. I agree that the current move is good, but we need to focus on the whole picture, not just academics.

Reem property leased too early
It seems most Reem developments, excluding Marina Square, are chucked up and leased too early (Abu Dhabi residents complain of constant problems at Reem Island development, August 29). The Boutik Mall Gate and Arc situation is becoming tiring.

Uber arrests are unfortunate
It's sad that many Uber and Careem drivers have been detained (Uber and Careem drivers detained, August 29).
The Government should allow Uber and Careem to set their own prices so there is healthy competition.

Learn to lead by example
I agree that the setting of a good example by those at the top inspires others in an organisation (Efficiency is a happiness factor, August 30).
You may have the job, title and salary, but if you aren’t setting good examples not only to your team but also to other employees, how can you expect the people you work with to respect you?
People need to be accountable for their actions and they need to learn that in order to get the best out of the team and attain the best result, you need to lead by example – learn to lead rather than manage. You can’t do that from a mobile phone while shopping at a mall.

We all should protect children
It's disappointing that we need laws to protect children when as adults it's our prime responsibility (10 years in jail and up to Dh1m in fines for care givers in UAE found with child pornography, August 29).
Prevention is better than cure and as members of the public we must be on the look out for predators wanting to harm children and report them to the authorities immediately.
What is disturbing is to see how many children are being killed or injured in the Syrian civil war.

Types of bank fraud
1) Phishing
Fraudsters send an unsolicited email that appears to be from a financial institution or online retailer. The hoax email requests that you provide sensitive information, often by clicking on to a link leading to a fake website.
2) Smishing
The SMS equivalent of phishing. Fraudsters falsify the telephone number through “text spoofing,” so that it appears to be a genuine text from the bank.
3) Vishing
The telephone equivalent of phishing and smishing. Fraudsters may pose as bank staff, police or government officials. They may persuade the consumer to transfer money or divulge personal information.
4) SIM swap
Fraudsters duplicate the SIM of your mobile number without your knowledge or authorisation, allowing them to conduct financial transactions with your bank.
5) Identity theft
Someone illegally obtains your confidential information, through various ways, such as theft of your wallet, bank and utility bill statements, computer intrusion and social networks.
6) Prize scams
Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
