Colourful way to relax and unwind

I am not surprised to hear that colouring has become a trendy way for adults to relax (A look at the latest craze – colouring books for adults, June 8).

Given the stress people live with these days, it is such basic ideas that can help them unwind. Gone are the days when people would go out for a long drive or sit on the beach or play their favourite outdoor game. These days we are all in a race against time. There is so much to do in so little time. For people who have a hectic lifestyle, colouring is the best remedy to de-stress and to help relive their childhood.

Sheikha Fatima’s gesture explains why UAE is great

The news that Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak helped a poor cancer patient to begin treatment at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain is wonderful (Sheikha Fatima helps cancer patient, June 9). I knew after reading this story that someone would step up. This is why I love this country. May God bless Sheikha Fatima and this sweet family in this terrible time. I pray for a successful treatment of Siham Al Mahmoud.

Shana Ahmad, Abu Dhabi

This is one of the many stories that highlight why the UAE is such an amazing place filled with amazing and kind-hearted people. I wish Sheikha Fatima and her family bountiful blessings.

Charlette Jones McDonald, Dubai

The rulers of the UAE share the blessings with others, which is why the country is continuously blessed. May Allah keep showering His blessings on this country.

This expression of compassion and generosity is fabulous. I can well imagine how helpless this family was feeling. Just knowing people care makes a significant shift in our perspective on the world around us.

Annette Allen, Australia

What an incredible blessing it is to live in a country where the leaders care so much and show so much compassion.

Arnna Graham, New Zealand

It's heartening to know that there are still people with a great heart out there. May God bless Sheikha Fatima. I hope Ms Al Mahmoud gets well soon.

For many, QE2 evokes emotions

Regarding the story Hope raised to refloat QE2 plan (June 9), the vessel has friends and supporters around the world who find the images of this legendary ship in such condition distressful. She was one of the greatest and most beautiful ships to ever float from the banks of the River Clyde in Scotland.

During the construction of this classic liner, it provided immense opportunities. Wages earned during her construction helped to put many of my generation through college. She may seem scrap to some, but to the thousands of men and women who built her she is the pinnacle of Clyde-built excellence. Will Dubai help us write a fairytale return?

Cladding has to be fireproof

The news of the fire at a high-rise on Reem Island is distressing (Fire damages Reem Island high-rise, June 9). I wonder why building owners are allowed to use cladding that is not fireproof or fire resistant.

A service that was necessary

It’s good news that patients can dial a doctor for a sick note instead of visiting a hospital or medical centre (Dial a doctor: Abu Dhabi service to help those too ill to leave home, June 8). This service is needed for people who are too ill to visit a doctor, or have a disease that can easily spread to others.

Brigitte von Bulow, Abu Dhabi

This is a great service, but it needs to work in combination with most Daman insurance plans.
