Nuna Atelier designs abaya for UAE National Day

There have been a handful of emails about exclusive UAE National day abayas that have made their way into our email inboxes this week, and while many of the designs have been garish and gimmicky, we’ve found one that stands out for its subtlety and elegance.

While abayas around this time of the year here tend to incorporate bright reds and greens from the UAE flag, Nuna Atelier has created one in a simple monochrome palette. There is, however, nothing basic about this particular abaya — the cuffs of the sleeves showcase an intricate outline of the Dubai skyline.

“As a proud Emirati who has been born and raised in this country, creating this special abaya is a gift that I would like to give to all the founding fathers of this country,” said Noora Al Alawi, CEO and creative director of Nuna Atelier. “I want to show, through this abaya, my sincere gratitude towards the people who worked really hard to achieve what we have achieved right now.”

Nuna Atelier was also the abaya brand of choice for model Kendall Jenner on her recent secret trip to the UAE.

Dubbed Skyline 45, in honour of the UAE’s 45th National Day, the abaya, priced at Dh1,600, is available from December 1-15 at Nuna Atelier’s showroom and stockists including The Fashion Vault, Be You and Candella Boutique.
