ABU DHABI // Nominations for next year’s Dh15 million Zayed Future Energy Prize began on Sunday.
The awards are open to individuals, organisations and schools who have made advances in renewable and sustainable energy.
There are five categories for submissions; large corporation, small and medium enterprise, non-government organisation, lifetime achievement and global high schools.
“Throughout history, prizes have proven to be a mechanism to encourage innovation,” said Dr Sultan Al Jaber, the prize’s director general.
“The Zayed Future Energy Prize is a commitment by the Government to incentivise people, organisations and schools to tackle today’s pressing energy and sustainability challenges.
“The world needs viable solutions that address issues such as energy access and sustainable development.
“And now in its seventh year, we are proud of the impact the Prize is delivering. From electrifying rural villages in Africa to accelerating market energy-efficiency technologies, our winners and finalists are leaving a positive mark on the world.”
Submissions and nominations close on July 14 and can be made at www.ZayedFutureEnergyPrize.com.
