Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has presented US President Donald Trump with a golden pager to commemorate their meeting at the White House this week, according to reports.
An image of the pager, a reference to Israel's attack on Hezbollah members in Lebanon last year, circulated online.
The Israeli embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request to verify the picture's authenticity, but the Times of Israel said it had confirmed the gift with the Prime Minister's Office.
The pager, set on a piece of wood, “symbolises the Prime Minister’s decision that led to a turning point in the war and the starting point for breaking the will of the terrorist organisation Hezbollah”, Mr Netanyahu’s office told the Times.
The operation “expresses the power, technological superiority and cunning of Israel against its enemies”.
The pager states: “PRESS WITH BOTH HANDS”. Many of the Hezbollah targets who answered their pagers lost hands or were blinded when thousands of pagers and hand-held communication devices exploded.
The operation last September killed 37 people and injured thousands more.
“To President Donald J Trump, our greatest friend and greatest ally,” a plaque underneath the pager states.
Mr Netanyahu visited the White House on Tuesday, and during a joint press conference, Mr Trump said the US would “take over” the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been engaged in a 15-month war against Hamas.
