A protester climbed the clock tower at King’s Cross station in London on Thursday while carrying a dog, before unfurling a banner protesting against the Iranian regime.
The banner read “Iran belongs to its people” and “Freedom for Iran”, and featured the logo of the Iranian Civil Society. The protester wore black clothes adorned with the slogan “No to war”.
The man stood on the 100ft high ledge holding the dog, which appeared to be a Pomeranian in a harness, while fire crews set up a ladder. The man was persuaded by members of the London Fire Brigade to allow the dog to be brought down the ladder, to cheers from the crowd gathered below.
After it started to rain, the man packed away his banner and was brought down at 11.50am, ending the almost four-hour protest.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.
British Transport Police had said earlier they were dealing with a “person in a precarious position” and were working with other emergency services to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “The brigade was called at 8.14am to reports of a man on the roof of King's Cross railway station on Euston Road. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters are currently on the scene assisting British Transport Police.”
