One person has been killed by shrapnel from an intercepted drone at a farm in Fujairah.
The incident occurred in Al Riffa area, authorities said on Wednesday morning.
“The competent authorities in Fujairah are dealing with an incident that occurred in a farm in the Al Riffa area as a result of shrapnel falling from the interception of a drone, which resulted in the killing of a person of Bangladeshi nationality,” state news agency Wam reported on social media.
Also on Wednesday, an Indian citizen was injured by shrapnel from an intercepted drone near an industrial facility in Umm Al Quwain.
The incident took place in the Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area, the Umm Al Quwain Media Office reported.
“The competent authorities in the emirate dealt with an incident that occurred near one of the facilities in the Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area as a result of falling debris following the successful interception of a drone by air defences, which resulted in the injury of a person of Indian nationality,” the office reported.
UAE deals with further missile attacks
The UAE intercepted a further five ballistic missiles and 35 drones launched from Iran, the Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.
Since the start of the Iranian attacks on February 28, UAE air defences have engaged 438 ballistic missiles, 19 cruise missiles and 2,012 drones.
Iran's sustained air strikes on the country have resulted in the martyrdom of two military personnel and a Moroccan civilian contracted by the UAE Armed Forces, as well as the deaths of nine civilians of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.
A total of 190 people have been injured. They included citizens of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
