Saudi Arabia has executed a man who had been convicted of terrorism charges, the kingdom's Interior Ministry said.
Saud bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Faraj, a Saudi citizen, committed crimes including “joining a foreign terrorist organisation, establishing a terrorist cell within the Kingdom that sought to kill security personnel, supporting and financing terrorist acts, harbouring its members, making explosives and possessing weapons”, the Interior Ministry said.
Following investigations, a court sentenced him to death. The ruling was appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court, the ministry added.
The death penalty was carried out on Wednesday in the eastern region.
The ministry said the government is keen “to maintain security, achieve justice, and implement the provisions of Islamic Sharia against anyone who attacks the innocent and violates their right to life and security”.
It warned “anyone who dares to commit such an act that the legal punishment will be his fate”.
In December, the kingdom executed three citizens who had been involved in terrorist acts such as killing a member of the kingdom's security personnel, injuring another, firing at security buildings and vehicles, making explosives and possessing weapons
In the same month, it executed a Yemeni man who had been convicted of terrorism charges.
