Is there a better way to mark the cooler weather that November (usually) brings than by being part of the fun-filled Color Run?

Not only can you celebrate finally being able to run outdoors again, but can also take the strain out of the exercise each time you get doused with colours. This happens at every kilometre of this untimed race, which you can walk, run or even dance through, and which calls itself the "Happiest 5k on the Planet".

This year, the renamed Color Run Hero Tour, will take place on Saturday, November 10 at the Dubai Autodrome. Early-bird tickets, which are available starting July 31, cost Dh150 (down from Dh260).

The rebranding of the race's title, says Greg Sproule, managing director of IMG Middle East, is to transport "Color Runners to a world where anything is possible, and inspire our young and adult participants to turn their superpowers to reality”.

Should you choose to interpret this as an excuse to dress yourself (and the kids) up in a superhero costume to make the race (and the after-party) even more fun, is up to you. However, the participant kit in the Hero Tour includes a race shirt and cape.

This year also sees the return of the Foam Zone that, as the name suggests, adds a load of soapy fun to the mix. A new Honor Photo Zone is where you can pose for some colour-drenched snaps at the end of this super-social race.

A limited number of early-bird tickets is available online, as well as at Stadium stores in The Dubai Mall, Deira City Centre and BurJuman, and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. Gates will open at 7am on November 10, with the first Color Runners setting off at 8.30am.

Since its inception in 2012, The Color Run has included six million participants in more than 35 countries, and and has donated US$5 million to charity.
