Qatar Airways starts route to Krabi
From this week, GCC travellers have a new route to the west coast of Thailand. Qatar Airways launched a direct service from Doha to Krabi, one of the country's most scenic areas and gateway to the Phi Phi Islands and Ko Lanta. Flights from Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah cost from Dh3,000 return, including taxes. (www.qatarairways.com)
Jumeirah opens new hotel in Dubai
Jumeirah Al Naseem, a new beachfront hotel in Dubai between the Jumeirah Mina A'Salam and Burj Al Arab, has opened. The hotel is part of the Madinat Jumeirah complex and marks the final chapter of the two-kilometre resort development, which began with the opening of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in 1997. The new hotel offers a further 430 rooms, an adults-only swimming pool, seven new Jumeirah restaurants and bars and four restaurants run by third-party operators. Rove City Centre opens in Deira
A second hotel by Emaar brand Rove opened this week near Dubai Creek. Rove City Centre is close to Dubai International Airport in the Port Saeed district, and follows the opening of Rove Downtown Dubai earlier this year. Designed to appeal to young, budget-conscious travellers, the hotel has 270 rooms on nine floors and is within walking distance of the Metro. It offers a 24-hour gym, swimming pool and sun deck. Rotana opens second hotel in Amman
UAE group Rotana has opened a second hotel in Jordanian capital Amman, making it the largest hotel operator in the kingdom. The 188-metre Amman Rotana Towers, in the downtown Abdali area, is the tallest building in Jordan. The hotel, next to The Boulevard Arjaan by Rotana hotel, has 50 floors and 412 rooms, with a fitness centre, outdoor swimming pool and restaurants including a Rodeo Grill steakhouse. Double rooms cost from 137 Jordanian dinars (Dh709) per night, including taxes. (www.rotana.com)

Freezer tips
- Always make sure food is completely cool before freezing.
- If you’re cooking in large batches, divide into either family-sized or individual portions to freeze.
- Ensure the food is well wrapped in foil or cling film. Even better, store in fully sealable, labelled containers or zip-lock freezer bags.
