First hotel at Dubai Parks and Resorts
Lapita, a new Polynesian-themed hotel at Dubai Parks and Resorts, opened its doors to guests this week. The 504-room property is part of the Autograph Collection, an upscale brand by Marriott. Offering three large outdoor swimming pools and lagoons, four themed restaurants, a rooftop bar and a spa, plus a kids' club and 24-hour fitness centre, the resort resembles a Florida-style family-holiday base, aimed at guests visiting the adjacent Motiongate Dubai, Legoland Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai, between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, off the E11 motorway. Fes gets a new Marriott hotel
Marriott has opened its first hotel in the Moroccan city of Fes. The Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace is aimed at business and leisure guests, and has 244 rooms, three restaurants and four bars. Renwick Hotel reopens as Hilton
A 1920s building that was once the home of The Great Gatsby novelist F Scott Fitzgerald has been turned into a Hilton hotel, under its Curio Collection brand. The Renwich Hotel, which is a protected art-deco property in Manhattan's Midtown area, has 173 rooms and suites decorated with contemporary American art and is based around a writing theme. Situated next to the Chrysler Building, the hotel has its own signature restaurant and fitness and business centres. Rooms cost from US$175 (Dh643) per night, including taxes.
