If you’ve got a soft spot for Sharjah, you are sure to love it even more now that a flash new glamping resort has opened in the emirate.

Kingfisher Lodge is on the Gulf coast in Khor Kalba, near the Omani border. The boutique hotel has 25 luxurious tented rooms, each with its own private pool, and offering views of the Indian Ocean.

Besides the other guests, you’ll be surrounded by mangroves, which are rich with bird life and home to turtles.

There is a bespoke dining tent, an on-site spa, and a selection of activities to take part in, from kayaking and paddleboarding, to nature walks and bird watching expeditions.
