Indian airline Vistara successfully inaugurated its first flight from Mumbai to Dubai on Wednesday, August 22, 2019.

Dubai is the airline's second international destination and the new route is the first from India where passengers can book premium economy fares.

Operated via Airbus A320 neo aircraft, passengers have a choice of business class, premium economy or economy class fares.

Travellers booking premium economy tickets on the new route will be seated in a private cabin towards the front of the aircraft. Seating comes with more leg room than in economy class, as seats have a 33-inch pitch. Customers can also recline further with a 4.5 inch recline function. Complimentary food and beverages are also included in the ticket price.

Customers booking economy fares enjoy higher luggage allowances, a separate boarding lane and priority baggage handling.

The new route operates daily with flights departing Dubai at 7.15pm, landing in Mumbai at 12.15am the next day.

From India, flights depart Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport at 4.25pm and arrive in Dubai at 6.15pm.

“We’re very excited to start our service to Dubai, a city that’s home to millions of Indians, place of business for many Indian corporations and is also the most-preferred holiday destination for so many people," said Vistara's chief executive Leslie Thng.

Dubai is Vistara’s second international destination after the airline began operations to Singapore earlier this month.  Thailand will be the airline’s third international destination with flights to Bangkok due to launch on Tuesday, August 27.
