The number of people passing through airports around the world has dropped dramatically due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and restrictions put in place to curb its spread.
A side effect of that may well be that you have not been able to get your hands on any duty-free goods since the last time you travelled.
That will not be the case in the capital for much longer, however, as Abu Dhabi Airports Duty Free has launched a new home delivery service, allowing residents across the UAE to buy duty free products and have them delivered to their homes.
Much like traditional online shopping, customers can browse the range on the Abu Dhabi Duty Free website.
The selection includes skincare sets, cosmetics, fragrances, watches, toys and sunglasses. You can also buy classic duty-free food, so if you're craving a giant Toblerone, you know where to look.
Residents can register for an account and pay online, then their items will be delivered anywhere in the UAE by Aramex.
There is also an option to create a wish list, if you want to save your buys for a later date.
"We are delighted to launch Abu Dhabi Duty Free home delivery service, enabling residents of the UAE to take advantage of a growing selection of our most popular items we have to offer at Abu Dhabi Duty Free without having to leave their homes," says Shareef Al Hashmi, chief executive of Abu Dhabi Airports.
“This new programme forms a part of our commitment to our customers to ensure they can enjoy our great range of products while staying safe. We have made the online ordering process incredibly easy and will continue find ways to make our products and services as attractive and rewarding as possible.”
