The Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Residences Emirates Pearl is the newest hotel in the capital, and it’s already attracting attention thanks to its striking building and slick interior.

Positioned opposite Emirates Palace between Jumeirah Etihad Towers and Bab Al Qasr, the property opened on June 1. It boasts 428-rooms and 60 full-service one- and two-bedroom residences - let us take you on a tour inside.

Upon entry you’ll be wowed by statement chandeliers overhead, the wall on the right-hand side will also attract your attention - it represents the rolling sand dunes. The pearl shaped check-in counter is another instagrammable space with its rich decor and drapery.

When fully open (hopefully by September) the Grand Hyatt will be a dining destination in its own right, with six restaurants and lounges. Those currently open include Verso and the Pearl Lounge. The former is a bright modern Italian delicatessen-style eatery with as much flair as flavour. Stop by for a coffee, a business lunch or a weekend meal - dishes start from Dh64.

The Pearl Lounge is a beautifully designed space with a terrace overlooking the pool and a chocolate bar and coffee station. Four additional eateries will round out the offering in the coming months - Sahha, a market-style eatery; Aisu, a trendy Japanese restaurant; Lexx, a cigar lounge bar; and Bovine, an interactive grill concept.

Extended over an entire floor, the Lum’a Spa (which opens in September) boasts separate male and female areas that include a hammam, sauna, steam bath and relaxation rooms, while the fitness centre is open 24 hours and has the only outdoor gym terrace in the capital, overlooking the water at the back of the property.

For the water babes among us, the hotel has a 50-metre infinity pool, a kids pool and a plunge pool. There’s a small private beach area too for those who prefer the seaside to the pool.
