Trances (El Hal), the 1981 film by Ahmed El Maanouni, focuses on the Moroccan band Nass El Ghiwane, a political acoustic band that draws on the Moroccan trance-music tradition. The Way Home is a 2002 South Korean film that tells the story of 7-year-old Sang-Woo, who is sent to live with his deaf grandmother in a rural village, where Sang-Woo is shocked and angry at his surroundings before his grandmother begins to change his perspective. The film won South Korea's equivalent of the Oscars for best picture and screenplay. Both films have English subtitles.
