Peugeot is introducing a bold new SUV into its Middle East line-up and with a fully electric version available, too.

The French car maker continues its efforts to up its game with the 2008 (that's the model, not the year), which, if you look at the early publicity shots, is stylistically beefier than its predecessor.

It also features significantly improved kit, based around what they’ve been calling their iCockpit system, which is already a feature in the current line-up.

You can choose one of three trim levels – Active, Allure and GT Line – which, again, mirror the rest of the Peugeot range available on these shores. The company is referring to the 2008 as an "ultra-modern interpretation of the instinctive and versatile driving experience", so we're expecting something half decent.

The UAE’s buyers will have to wait until 2020 if they fancy a 2008, though, and pricing will be revealed at a later date.

The new arrival will be taking on the likes of the new Toyota Rav4 that was launched in April and the Volkswagen Tiguan, which is also expected to have an upgrade later next year.
