In the latest edit of its animated videos for the Rose des Vents collection, Dior references Le Petit Poucet, a French fairy tale that's similar to Hansel and Gretel. In the film, the trail of breadcrumbs is replaced by the precious rings, dropped by the fair-haired maiden to help her loved one navigate the maze to find her.
The mini rings are available in turquoise, pink opal and mother-of-pearl, and bear the wind rose motif upon which the collection is based. For Rose des Vents, artistic director Victoire de Castellane reinterpreted Christian Dior’s favourite flower, the rose, and a much-loved symbol, the star – which the French designer looked upon as a lucky charm on his many travels – in the form of a wind rose. Taking the shape of an eight-pointed star, the wind rose was an early navigational device.
