In a bold new move, IWC has released a timepiece that draws together a chronograph and a moonphase.
In a first for the house, the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph offers a caliber from the 89000 family, a chronograph and a moonphase dial, with perpetual calendar, at 12 o’clock.
The moonphase shows both the Moon and the Earth, and is accurate enough to only need adjusting once every 577.5 years. Likewise, the calendar, which displays the year between 7 and 8 o’clock, is designed for months of varying lengths as well as leap years, needing adjustment only once every century. Those wishing to bequeath this watch to his or her grandchildren, be sure to remind them that in 2300, this timepiece will need to be reconfigured by a watchmaker, so the calendar is ready for the years 2300-2599.
The timepiece is 43mm in diameter and 15.5mm in height, and is available in two models: IW3921-01 comes in red gold, with a silver-plated dial, and a brown alligator strap made by the Italian leather craftsman Santoni.
For those who prefer steel, the IW3921-03 has a stainless steel case and clasp, with a black alligator Santoni strap. The face is slate grey.
Both pieces have a power reserve of 68 hours, an 89630 calibre, and frequency of 28,800 A/h.

Attractive investment property can be hard to find amid strong demand and heightened buyer activity. When you do find one, be prepared to move hard and fast to secure it. If you have your finances in order, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Lenders continue to lend and rates remain at an all-time low, so utilise this. There is no point in tying up cash when you can keep this liquidity to maximise other opportunities.
Keep your head and, as always when investing, take the long-term view. External factors such as coronavirus or Brexit will present challenges in the short-term, but the long-term outlook remains strong.
Finally, keep an eye on your currency. Whenever currency fluctuations favour foreign buyers, you can bet that demand will increase, as they act to secure what is essentially a discounted property.
